BACP Registered Psychotherapist
I am a BACP registered psychotherapist and a trainee counselling psychologist who has completed my clinical doctoral training. I expect to achieve my Doctorate in Counselling Psychology in early 2020. I also hold an undergraduate BSc degree in Finance having studied at University College Cork in Ireland.
Having previously worked in the financial services industry I made the choice in 2011 to embark on a long held desire to pursue a career in psychology. I have studied with University of Derby, a post graduate psychology diploma at London SouthBank Univeristy and my doctorate at Regent's University. During my training I have worked therapeutically with adults in NHS and charitable mental health settings.
I have worked extensively with substance use, depression, anxiety, relational difficulties, suicidal thinking, physical, emotional and sexual abuse and many more mental health concerns. Coming late to the psychology field, I believe, allows me to bring a fresh yet mature perspective to my clinical practice. I work in a relational and down to earth manner that is geared towards helping you make the most out of therapy, at a pace that works best for you.
My research interests lie in gaining a better understanding of how the social and gendered expectations we face impact upon our ability to cope with life. I have a particular interest and experience in working with men who are hesitant with the concept of therapy that leaves them cautious to disclose their concerns with another individual. Of course this does not solely apply to men and I am open to working with all individuals.
If having read my approach and you feel this may relate to you in some way please get in touch to talk through what is going on for you. I offer a free 15 minutes phone consultation to ask further questions and decide if psychotherapy is right for you.
